What does a Friday night in Changsha look like when you refuse to let it end? The Chinese variety show Up All Night Friday has an answer — and it involves race cars, river cruises, and some surprisingly honest conversations about love.

周五晚上舍不得睡，你会做什么？中国综艺《不想睡的星期五》给出了答案——而且答案里有赛车、有游船，还有一些关于爱情的坦诚对话。

In the show’s ninth episode, filmed entirely in Changsha, the eight cast members split by gender for two completely different night experiences. The men — actor Guo Jingfei, pop star Justin Huang (Huang Minghao), rising idol Zhou Yiran, and actor Chen Jingke — head to the Hunan International Circuit for a high-speed drifting challenge. They start with theory class, move to simulators, then get behind the wheel for real. Some nail it on the first try; others crash, spin out, and struggle to find the rhythm between throttle and steering wheel. By the end, it’s not just about speed — it’s about learning balance, handling pressure, and swallowing your pride when you fail in front of cameras.

第九期全程在长沙录制，八位嘉宾按性别分成两组，体验两种截然不同的夜生活。男生组——演员郭京飞、歌手黄明昊（Justin Huang）、新生代偶像周翊然、演员陈靖可——来到湖南国际赛车场，挑战高速漂移。从理论课到模拟器，再到真车上阵，有人一把过关，有人撞车、打转、怎么也找不到油门和方向盘之间的节奏。到最后，比的已经不是速度，而是如何在压力下稳住自己，如何在镜头前坦然接受失败。

Meanwhile, the women — actresses Li Xiaoran, Sun Yi, Tang Yixin, and Xia Meng — take a much quieter route. They board a night cruise bus along the Xiangjiang River, passing iconic Changsha landmarks: Qitongxue Shaonian Square, Orange Island (Orange Isle), and Du Fu Pavilion, all glowing under the city lights. After the cruise, they settle into a riverside restaurant for a card game called “Sun and Moon,” where dice rolls determine who answers questions about love, emotional boundaries, and how to deal with ex-partners. The conversation gets raw, personal, and surprisingly relatable — the kind of talk that only happens late at night with close friends.

女生组则走了完全不同的路线——演员李小冉、孙怡、唐艺昕、夏梦登上湘江夜游巴士，一路经过恰同学少年广场、橘子洲头、杜甫江阁，两岸灯火璀璨。夜游结束后，她们在江边餐厅坐下，玩起名为“太阳与月亮”的卡牌游戏，掷骰抽卡，回答关于爱情的定义、感情的边界感、如何与前任相处等问题。话题越来越深入，越来越私人，也越来越让人共鸣——那种只有深夜和好朋友在一起才会聊出来的话。

Two groups, one city, two versions of Friday night: one fueled by adrenaline and engine roar, the other by river breeze and heartfelt confession. The show captures what makes Changsha’s nightlife special — it offers both speed and stillness, noise and intimacy, depending on who you are and who you’re with.
