Recently, the Cambodia Commercial Center (Changsha) and the School of International Education of Central South University held a Cambodia-Hunan youth exchange meeting, also a Cambodian New Year gathering, at the Yuhua Block of Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area. This was the first time that representatives from the Yuhua Block participated in China-Cambodia exchange activities.

The year of 2024 marks the China-Cambodia People-to-People Exchange Year. It is also the first year to implement the Action Plan on Building a China-Cambodia Community with a Shared Future in the New Era. People-to-people exchanges and trade cooperation between the two countries are embracing broad prospects.

The gathering featured a vibrant tapestry of activities. International students from Cambodia, along with Hunan student representatives from Central South University and Hunan University, performed traditional ethnic dances and enjoyed fun and interactive experiences, celebrating the arrival of the Cambodian New Year on the Buddhist calendar. The event fully demonstrated a strong connection between China and Cambodia in the fields of education, culture, economy, and trade, as well as the vigor and vitality of Chinese and Cambodian youths.

The event received strong support from the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Chongqing, the Management Committee of the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area, the China Chamber of International Commerce Hunan, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Cambodia.

The Cambodia Commercial Center (Changsha) was registered in the Gaoqiao segment of Yuhua Block in May last year. The center serves as a pivotal platform for China-Cambodia cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation. It is an important institution authorized by Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce to be established in Hunan Province, with technical guidance and support from the ministry.

The business center has successfully introduced six Chinese and Cambodian enterprises, with the business covering foreign trade, agriculture and animal husbandry, cultural tourism, new energy, and other sectors. Several projects have been carried out, including the import of Cambodian cashew nuts, cassava, fruit, and other agricultural and sideline products, as well as the export of new energy vehicles and parts. The import and export value is expected to reach nearly 1 billion yuan, which will inject new vitality into Cambodia-Hunan economic and trade cooperation.
